  • Where can I find the district calendar?
    • The district calendar can be found in the district office. It can also be found by clicking on BHS 2025-2026 Official Calendar under header on the homepage of the website.
    • You can choose to subscribe or print this calendar if you choose.
 
 
  • Where can I find school events, athletics, and activities calendar?
    • This can be found by clicking the Calendar of Events on the home page of the website. 
    • You can subscribe or print this calendar by selecting the activities if you choose. See instructions on how to do this here. Printing or Linking to School Calendar of Events
    • Please note that on mobile devices, you may need to force a sync with this added calendar. Instructions to do this are in the link above.
 
 
  • What should I do if my child will be absent or needs to leave school for an appointment?
    • When your child is absent, please email the Britton-Hecla Secretary this link is at the top of the list on the school homepage. 
    • Please let the secretary know that your child will be absent and when you anticipate he/she will return. You can also please call the school at 605-448-2234.
 
 
  • If my child leaves school for an appointment, can they still participate in practice or a play in a game later that day?
    • No, students must return to school after their appointment in order to be eligible to participate in practice or a game that day.
 
 
  • How am I notified of school closings?
    • In cases of inclement weather, the school will also notify you via the telephone, text, and email through the School Messaging System. Please make sure your Infinite Campus information is up to date to receive these messages.
    • The school will also notify the local television stations. 
 
 
  • Where can I find the daily schedule?
    • Class times and recess schedule is also listed under the Bell Schedule in Menu > Student Resources.
    • You can also access your child’s  personal schedule by logging on to Infinite Campus Portal. Also found on the app and school website. 
 
 
  • How do I enroll my child in school? (K immunization)
    • To enroll your child in school, enrollment packets can be picked up at the district's main office. Each spring the Britton-Hecla School District holds Kindergarten Screening.
    • If you have a child who will be five years of age prior to September 1 of the upcoming year, please contact the school so we can send you information about screening.
    • Forms can also be found by going to Menu > Parent Resources > Student Registration
 
 
  • How do I check my child's grades?
    • Your child's grades can be obtained by contacting his/her teacher(s) or by logging onto the parent portal, Infinite Campus Portal
    • Notify the district office if you need a username and password for the parent portal.
 
 
  • How do I check my child's attendance?
    • You can obtain your child's attendance by contacting the district office or by logging onto the parent portal,  Infinite Campus Portal
    • Notify the district office if you need a username and password for the parent portal.
 
 
  • What are the prices for meals?
    • School meal costs can be found by going to Menu > Parent Resources > School Payments and Fees > Meal Payment Information
 
 
  • How do I apply for free and reduced lunches?
    • Free and Reduced lunch tickets are available through the school. Forms for the free and reduced lunch program can be obtained by calling (448-2234),  stopping in the district office, or logging onto School Payments and Fees
 
 
  • What if my child is on prescription medication?
    • The office will handle any medication that needs to be administered. Prescription medications that are to be administered must be brought to the office in the original container, and must be accompanied by a note. If a note does not come to school with your child, we will not administer the medication. We will make every attempt to contact a parent/guardian if your child does not bring a note.
 
 
  • How do I enroll my child in the Britton-Hecla (OST) Funtastic After School Program?
    • The Britton-Hecla (OST) Funtastic  After School Program  is an enrichment and academic support program that provides a wide variety of age appropriate activities intended to meet the many needs of the children enrolled in the program. 
    • We provide a safe and fun learning environment for children in grades K-3. Each day children are involved in hands-on activities and also many community service projects.
    • A snack is provided daily.
    • We are open from 3:15pm to 5:30pm Monday-Friday. We follow all school holidays, closings and early outs.
    • The program has a limited number of spaces available that fill on a first come first serve basis. 
    • More information can be found at Britton-Hecla (OST) and any questions can be submitted to the office (448-2234).
 
 
  • What time can I drop my child off at school?
    • Unless a child needs assistance in a classroom, has a special activity, or wants breakfast he/she should not arrive at school before 7:55 AM. 
    • Breakfast is served at 7:55 AM and the doors will open at that time.
 
 
  • How can I  use the school facilities for my event, program, or club?
    • The school facilities can be used if available and approved. 
    • Please submit a Facility Request. The  link can be found at Menu > Activities and Athletics > Facility Request Application 
    • This form will be submitted to the Superintendent for approval.
