The state of South Dakota recently made changes to accountability testing for juniors. Starting this spring, all juniors will take the ACT during school instead of the SD ELA, math and science assessments. Juniors will take the ACT during one of three test windows in the spring. The test will be paid for by the state and all students will receive both an ACT score (1-36) and a proficiency score of 1-4 as in the past.
Juniors may also take the ACT on national test dates but will still need to take the test at school. Seniors may also have a chance to test during these windows but will need to pay for the test.
The ACT is offered on October 18 and the registration deadline is this Friday, September 12. Students can go to www.act.org to register. The test will also be offered on December 13 in Britton, dependent on enough students signing up. The state of South Dakota provides Methodize test prep through the SDMyLife site.
