Description
Duties to Include:
1. Responsible for the daily management and operations for District food service facilities.
2. Maintain a program that meets and enforces district policy, school guidelines, and National School Lunch Program requirements.
3. Manages the hiring process for kitchen staff, supervises, trains, and evaluates kitchen staff.
4. Sets work schedule for all kitchen staff.
5. Responsible for administering the food service budget and demonstrates fiscal responsibility.
6. Obtain quotes and bids of products as necessary.
7. Orders and assists with receiving and storing food and supplies.
8. Maintains a master inventory of all food supplies and equipment.
9. Liaison between the kitchen staff, parents, and administration.
10. Monitors participation and food service records.
11. Facilitates menu planning to ensure continuity and food cost savings.
12. Assist with staff in-servicer, open house, and student conference food needs.
13. Work closely with inspectors, suppliers, and technicians.
14. Adjust irregular hours to facilitate deliveries and emergency calls.
15. Work directly with the Business Manager concerning budgeting, purchasing, assets, and annual food service appropriations.
16. Must meet the required 12 hours of continuing education/training by the USDA and oversee that all food service personnel meet the required training for their position.
17. Ensure that all staff under your supervision have the required annual training necessary to perform their duties.
18. Adhere to all safety and health standards and protocols required by the District, State, and USDA.
19. Strive to promote safety, health, and comfort of all students within the District.
20. Promote a positive image of the Britton-Hecla School District.
21. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education:
* Must meet the Federal and State standards for School Nutrition Program Directors. High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in school nutrition; or a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience with academics major and state-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors; or Associates degree or equivalent educational experience with academic major in specific areas and at least one year of relevant school nutrition program experience.
Experience Level:
* Three (3) years of food service experience desired.
* Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
* Frequent walking, standing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, turning, and crouching. Will also require repetitive motions with wrist, hands, and fingers. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements:
* Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, problem solving, organization, conflict management, human resources and time management skills.
* Knowledge of USDA child feeding program regulations and National Food Service Program requirements. Ensure the program adheres to all safety and health standards and protocols required by the District, State, and USDA.
* Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, data entry, internet, and email is expected along with the ability to perform basic math computations.
* Must be able to schedule personnel and must have the ability to establish good rapport with administrators, staff, students, and the public.
* Adhere to District policies and procedures.
* Ensure the District stays up to date on ServSafe requirements for compliance purposes and trainings for all food service staff.
* Must be able to develop and maintain a positive working environment within the food service program.
